The Morning After: Sony Needs Beta Testers For PS5 Software

This is your chance to test out the latest PlayStation 5 features before everyone else. Sony has opened an open beta program for PS5 software in order to test what is supposedly an "major upgrade" later in the year. Perhaps we can expand the SSD? In the coming weeks, Sony will release more information about forthcoming features.

Only PS5 owners in the US and Canada can sign up. You will receive an email with instructions on how to download the beta firmware if you're chosen.

Microsoft has been running the Xbox Insider Program since years. Even Sony has used its beta testers to test patches for the PS4. However, this appears to be more extensive. Sony may need all the testers it can receive: The PS5 is still in its early stages and it is still difficult to come by.

An early hands-on with Windows 11

Windows 10 meets macOS. After playing around with the (now famous) Windows 11 leak for several hours, Devindra Hardawar says it's a lot like macOS. This could be due to the simplicity of this first build of Windows 10, which is clean and Kondo-ed. For starters, there's a new central Taskbar, which behaves like it did since Windows 95, housing the Start menu button as well as active apps and your selection of shortcuts. It's now all icons. Read on for Devindra's full impressions.

Microsoft appoints Satya Nadella as its CEO

The second person, following Bill Gates, to hold both roles.

Microsoft has appointed Satya Nadella, CEO, as its chair. This marks the first time that an individual has held both of these positions since Bill Gates' departure as chief executive in 2000. It's another vote of confidence for an executive who has strengthened the company on almost all fronts: Microsoft is now the second-highest-valued company in the world, second only to Apple with a market capitalization of $1.9 trillion. Nadella has also overseen several successful acquisitions that include Minecraft, LinkedIn, GitHub and, more recently, gaming giant ZeniMax. Continue reading.

All future Disney+ original series will air on Wednesdays

Good, because I can't wait around for 'Loki.' No, it was not a time anomaly which meant that you were watching the most recent episodes of Marvel's time-traveling cult a day early: Disney+ will now start new episodes of its television series on Wednesdays. Although the previous series released new episodes on Fridays, Disney+ will now release them on Wednesdays. This could be due to the fact that Disney is keen to keep that watercooler vibe and promote more discussion about its newest shows prior to the release of the weekend. Any original movie that's scheduled to launch on Disney+ will still premiere on a Friday, so you'll still have something to enjoy. Continue reading.

Mobile gamers will have to wait until September to play 'Pokemon Unite.'

It's the perfect time to launch Pokemon Unite. The "free-to-start" MOBA will be launched on the Nintendo Switch in July, and on mobile devices in September.
